What To Eat?

I used to be that type of person who does not complain that much when it comes to food. I have no problem eating outside, take away food or never refuse to any offer to have home cooked meal, by any chance. I dont complain if the food is bad, I only take action by not coming to the same place, that is all. And once in a while, I indulged myself with a bit of fast food, chocolate, goreng pisang and the list goes on.
But now that I am expecting, things are totally different. On my 1st trimester, my appetite went haywire. Food does not sound good as it is before, but I still need to eat or I can become very sick. I can not let myself to be hungry. Being hungry is like the worst nightmare, because I dont want the incident that I puked in front of someone's door to happen again. My puke was a combination of sambal hijau, chicken, rice and air sirap. It was a colourful puke, just like nasi hujan panas. It was a disaster.
Now I am very fussy when it comes to food. I only take food which I think is yummy, hot, fresh and clean. Since I no longer cook, most of the time, we bought our food outside. In KLCC, I usually take away lunch from where every I feel like eating. Until one point I became sick of eating food outside, eating food in KLCC, eating food bought from any where near our house or whatsoever. Then I start to crave for home cooked meals. I suddenly craved for my mum's cooking. I asked her to cook my favourite udang and ketam masak lemak cili. I became bored of chicken, fish, vegetable I guess that was why I suddenly craved for udang and ketam. And her cooking is incomparable dengan masakan kat kedai ok. Tiba-tiba ada selera makan and I finish it all.
And today that I am feeling much better (maybe because I am done with LTPF), I actually cook lunch for my husband, after being away from the kitchen since October. And I am so glad that I got to enjoy yummy, hot, fresh and clean food of my own. I am not sure if I will be cooking again in future because it really depends on the my condition on that day. Suffice to say, I am so glad today that I had the opportunity to enjoy real food. So I guess at this point of time, I tend to agree with kata-kata makcik or orang tua yang masakan rumah jugak yang sedap. I dont know lah if I tend to become normal again, just like before after this, cume for the mean time, cam ni lah keadaan nye. Haha.
I hope I will be fine until evening because I plan to do some shopping with husband afterwards. Happy New Year you ols!

Bye Bye Maxis Broadband

I finally terminated my Maxis broadband. Memang lah connection Maxis broadband ni agak menghampakan, but the main reason for the termination was purely because of we under utilized the broadband itself. Lepasni nak guna internet, guna Blackberry saje. Save lah RM48 per month.
I still have one more year to go with Maxis. Maybe after that I will re-evaluate whether I want to stay loyal to Maxis or switch to other operator. So far, in term of phone coverage agak ok, customer services pon ok. In addition to that, Maxis center is just nearby my office. So memang convinient.
Eh tetapi ada sesuatu yang fishy about Maxis. The amount of my phone bills for this month and last month is exactly the same, siap dengan sen-sen nye sekali. Sometimes I wonder, betul ke Maxis ni kire usage? Dah lah bill die sangat menyusahkan orang untuk baca. Berbelit2. So since that, I kind of, macam tak rasa sedap hati about Maxis. Sixth sense ghetu.

When Will This Ends

When will this ends? I am so tired and totally drained, been working like H since October.
Okay let's bebel.
I hardly use my baby Macy anymore. Our Maxis broadband went kaput, and that explains lack of blog updates and long silence from my side. With my current condition, I am prohibited to play with baby Macy while having her on my lap. Furthermore, she is bit bulky too. She is not Macbook Air, remember?
I actually missed those time when I can just lay on my bed and play with baby Macy. Sometimes, I think maybe what I need is something lighter, like a Netbook? or an Ipad maybe?
My husband suggested we sell off baby Macy, tapi ada ke orang nak beli?
Anyway, we would like to welcome a new addition to the family -

Even though I am a Blackberry user, I have to admit that, Iphone4 is way cooler than Blackberry :p.
The only thing that is holding me from converting to Iphone4 is my Blackberry messanger friends. Dont worry, I love you guys more than I love the Iphone :>
My favourite Iphone application is What to Expect, haha skema tak?

Busy and Unwell

November, December and January is a busy period for us. I have been swamped with work, a little stressed out too. But I guess, I will need to manage that. Apa-apa pon, kerja kena siap. Motto untuk sedapkan hati sendiri.
I guess because of that (and some other reasons too), macam-macam penyakit sudah datang. Batuk, selsema, pening kepala, you name it I got it all. Sebelum ni, syukur Alhamdulillah, I am quite normal and enjoy my day to work but now, it is a different story. Those diseases love me so much!
I am not sure if it is too early or too stale to tell that I am pregnant. First and foremost, syukur Alhamdulillah for this gift from Allah. Secondly, I am praying for everything to be ok, sumenyer selamat dan sejahtera selalu, Insyallah. Thirdly, it is a whole new experience for me, I have tough time adapting but I guess, all the support from loved ones, family and friends, have been keeping occupied and giving me courage to go through this wonderful journey.
I didnt know I was pregnant, we had great time in Sabah, doing rafting at Sg Padas, snorkeling at Pulau Manukan and Sapi, jalan-jalan at Kinabalu Park and all those great activities, which are quite rough activities I must say. We are ready for our second white water rafting at Sg Perak and that was the time I told hubby, let me do the test first. I was already late and I only know what pregnant lady is not allowed to do white water rafting.
So it turned out to be positive. Syukur Alhamdulillah. I had to say bye bye to Sg Perak and field trip to Miri, (but they still make me to go next year, arghh!) and reason to skip few meetings which require me to travel by plane. Not advisable by doctor katanye. Kuikui.
Week 4 to Week 8 was difficult. Empty stomach is a no-no! Sebabnyer nanti mesti sakit kepala. But at the same time I was struggling with my appetite to eat.  I can no longer accept those food I used to enjoy. I live only with fiber biscuits, milk and fruits. I dont like anything sweet. I cant stand any strong smell. I hate the smell of my own laundry! But I am glad that I can still stand my husband's smell. Ada satu hari ni je I think he is so busuk, tapi lepas tu ok. And I also think my cat is busuk that time. That was the only time dan sangat berharap ianya takkan kembali. One story about my cat, Meena. That one time I came back to Seremban and hug her, she then came to me and put her paws at my belly, and start giving me cat massage. Owhh, that was so sweet of my Meena. She must have knew! Am glad that she sort of welcome this new life. Mum also said, while she was having me, her cat loves to sleep near her belly. Guess that explains why I love cats so much! Ngeee :)
I didnt not vomit but I have constant nausea and headache, throughout the day. No more cooking and weekend is a bed resting time for me. I missed by BFF's wedding and few other weddings too. Toilet is my best friend
Week 9 till current. I still hate the smell of my own laundry and still struggling with my own appetite. I lose a lil bit of weight but doctor say it is ok. I dont take fiber biscuits anymore, thank God! But I still dont like anything sweet. I tend to crave for food but after I ate it today, I will not want it anymore tomorrow. So currently, I am still struggling to find what to eat everyday.  I bring fruits, dates, almond and orange drink to office everyday for snacking.
I still bed rest during the weekend. I napped during lunch hour and I dont feel like meeting people. I just want to sleep.
I whine and complain a lot. Kesian diorang ni, but thank you for always there for me. I know I need to change this habit and be more positive now onwards.
Okaylah, basically this post just nak cerita je where I have been and how I am doing, because few people ask already. Hehe, this post is for all of u.
I cant wait to be normal and ok again. InsyaAllah. If you ask me what are my feelings now - well I am still clueless and ting tong on what is happening to me. But the first time I saw and hear the hearbeat of our baby, I must say that was magic. Kekadang cam tak rasa tak percaya aje.
Okay u ols, I guess that is all for now. I am thinking to go for a head and shoulder massage after this. Really need one.
Have a good weekend people. I will be on my bed, as always :)

Malas nye nak update blog. Rasanyer kalau tutup blog pon ok kot.

Ding Dong

Ding~ hello uols.
Nothing interesting. My life is as boring and mundane as usual. Pergi kerja redah jem balik kerja redah jem. And ever since transfered to the new team, dah belajar to stay back and work during the weekend. Boring.
Our drilling campaign is just around the corner, so busy mode is at least until June 2011. Rasanyer jadi zombie lah sampai June 2011 nanti.
Kerja-kerja juga but as much as I can, I try to balance my life and most importantly, try to get my 8 hours sleep, drink more water, eat more fruits and vegetables, exercise, swimming and lepak2 with friends, family and husband (with a bit of FB and Farmville too)
I have also been reading a lot these few days. And I plan to cut down my expenses and save more for our future. $$$$$.
Wish me luck!

Travelogue : Kota Kinabalu Day 4 : White Water Rafting at Sg Padas

My Blackberry went dead! That was the reason why no update from me after reaching Tenom. Haha. Okay, let me just wrap up :
1. We took an antique train from Tenom to Pangi passing by Sg Padas. The first time I saw Sg Padas, my impression was "OMG". Sg Padas is a 9km of Grade III and IV rapids. For a first time like us, it was like unbelievable!
The journey from Tenon to Pangi took around 30 minutes. And while we were enjoying the scene of Sg Padas, someone actually saw a crocodile sunbathing beside the river bank.
"What? A crocodile?" I gulped. "This is suicide" I told my husband.
To summarize, we managed to survive Sg Padas. It was hella fun. No crocodile, still sunbathing I guess. Exhilarating adventure rafting through rapids, they even have names! i.e Headhunter, Cyclone, Cobra Rock, Roller Coaster. We did body rafting too i.e threw ourselves in the river. Yes I am crazy.  And oh, we lost our 2 month old waterproof camera in Sg Padas. So no footprint of Sg Padas, only memories :(
I could not agree more that White Water Rafting we did was the climax of our visit to Sabah. My husband likes it too and I guess this will be our new hobby :D
That evening, we still had the energy and appetite to go for ikan bakar, on our last night at KK.
On Day 5, we did our shopping and dropped by Tanjung Aru for a short walk before boarding to KL at around 6PM. Sabah, we will see you again for Sipadan and Mabul and Mount Kinabalu :)

Class I: Easy
Waves small; passages clear; no serious obstacles.
Class II: Medium
Rapids of moderate difficulty with passages clear. Requires experience plus suitable outfit and boat.
Class III: Difficult
Whitewater, waves numerous, high, irregular; rocks; eddies; rapids with passages clear though narrow, requiring expertise in maneuvering; scouting usually needed. Requires good operator and boat.
Class IV: Very difficult
Long rapids; white water, waves high, irregular; dangerous rocks; boiling eddies; best passages difficult to scout; scouting mandatory first time; powerful and precise maneuvering required. Demands expert boatman and excellent boat and good quality equipment.
Class V: Extremely difficult
Exceedingly difficult, white water, long and violent rapids, following each other almost without interruption; riverbed extremely obstructed; big drops; violent current; very steep gradient; close study essential but often difficult. Requires best person, boat, and outfit suited to the situation. All possible precautions must be taken.
Class VI (or U): Dangerous
Effectively unraftable on a safe basis.

Travelogue : Kota Kinabalu Day 2 - Air Terjun Kipungit, Poring Hot Spring

We are now at Poring Hot Spring. But the hot spring area is too congested, plus to the fact that I dont really favor hot spring, so we hiked a bit to go to Air Terjun Kipungit. Jungle trekking for about 20 minutes i.e 400m and there it was, the air terjun. I dont feel like dipping because am still full so I just lepak at one of the batu and enjoy the scenary. Came across this pakcik in the photo, I swear, looks like he is naked in the water huahuahua. But after he came out from the water, baru nampak die punya swimming trunk is skin colour. Aiyor pakcik :p

Travelogue : Kota Kinabalu Day 1 - Only in KK

When I travel, I love to observe the place speciality and its uniqueness. So on our way back to the hotel, we came across 'this' at the 7 eleven. Gardenia Cup Cake! This is the first time I saw such cup cake and I guess we don't have this one in Semenanjung. We were actually looking for Gardenia bread for the fishes but all is sold out. I so hope they will love this cup cake huahuahua.

Travelogue : Kota Kinabalu Day 1 - Wet Evening

We were at Night Market near Kampung Air when it started to rain. And because of the rain, we have to cancel our seafood dinner. Thing is, we did not rent any car because everywhere is within walking distance in KK (but not when it rains :p). We are now stranded at one of the street and the nearest food place we saw was KFC. And here we are, had our dinner and now waiting for the rain to stop. But the rain seems getting more heavier now.
Well anyway, this afternoon after Friday prayers, we toured Pasar Filipino and Pusat Kraftangan, the most famous place in KK for its souvenir like pearls and crystal, and cheap ikan bilis, udang kering, ikan terubuk masin etc. We did not buy any because we plan to do our shopping on our 5th day. The trick in here is that, all prices are marked up quite high. So when you want to bargain, you may go below than 50 percent than the original price. For example, there's this 10 keychain in a bag, the price tag is RM35. Then the girl give the first price at RM28, second price at RM20. Meanwhile, the girl from the other side will give u RM15 :) So, if you are looking for cheap prices, kena jalan-jalan sikit lah ok.
After that we headed to Warisan Square. I love this place. It comprises of shop lots and there were few blocks of them. And there are Padini Concept Store, Charles and Keith, Vincci, Esprit etc. For food - Big Apple Donut, Starbucks etc. The place is quite new and air-conditioned. We toured the place and then headed back to our hotel.
It was quite hot and sunny outside, and guess that was why I was a bit tired from the short jalan-jalan. I ended up sleeping in the hotel for 2 hours. This is so not me, but I guess maybe I was so tired and drained due to PPA and the rush this morning. We bring along our lappy because I know I will need to do my PPA (some office stuff), the due date this coming 6th. Thank god the lappy is also here, it keeps my husband occupied while I enjoy my 2 hours rest.
In most of our holiday, we spent most of the time outside the hotel, exploring the city. But I guess KK is an exemption because this place is very convinient, everything is within reach. But as our guide mention today, rest as much as we can for tomorrow activity. What is for tomorrow? Wait for my update :)

Travelogue : Kota Kinabalu Day 1 - Arrival

We have safely arrived at KK at around 10am. We were in a rush and nearly missed our flight. The check-in counter has already closed and we checked- in and dropped our bag at the service counter. Then we ran to the boarding gate but alhamdullilah managed to be in the flight. The flight departed 10 minutes early and we were not informed on the change of time at all. I worried the most about our bags, worried that it goes to somewhere else, but syukur, bags safely arrived too. We have not had any meal and decided to have our brunch only in KK, so the 2.5 hours flight was so boring. I slept most of the time.

We were greeted by our agent, they were nice and came with a spacious van for two of us. We checked-in at 11am, rest for a while then headed to the mall for our brunch. Today plan is shopping at Pasar Filipino etc. Currently waiting husband to perform Friday prayers and later will continue our shopping. I suggested for seafood tonight. I cant wait :)

Ubi Kayu vs Ubi Keledek

Malulah, Ubi Keledak Camne Pon Taktau

I want to be honest that I cannot differentiate between ubi kayu and ubi keledek. I ended up buying ubi kayu for my karipap project which is already pending right now. Nampak sangat tak tau masak *malu*

Not only that, masa baru kawin, I did not know which one is lengkuas because for me it looks the same with halia i.e ginger.

Hmm, now the question is, mane nak cari keledek ni ek?

Homemade Chocolate

I've also been wanting to do homemade chocolate and it finally materialize. This is one simple and quick recipe. 200g of compound chocolate shall gives you around 30 small pieces of chocolate. Compound chocolate, cocoa butter and chocolate mold, you can find it all at any bakery supplier shop. I got mine at Yummie Bakery @ Bandar Baru Bangi.
Boleh lah bawak balik kampung during raya nanti.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

On Saturday, both of us went back to Seremban to berbuka with my mum and dad. I miss them so much! Was so happy to see Meena too. She is mengada-gada as usual :)
On Sunday, we left at noon, with hope to escape the weekend traffic at Lebuhraya Utara Selatan. It was blistering hot and I could not wait to reach home. Macam cacing kepanasan dalam kereta. Adoi!
We reached home at around 1PM, which leaves ample time for me to cook for berbuka and bake cookies. I don't know why, but Ramadhan gives me some motivation to cook for berbuka and sahur. But quite fair lah, since the day before, we bought all our food at Pasar Ramadhan Seremban 2.
So today I bake chocolate chip cookies. I ran out of chocolate chips, that was why cookie is full of chocolate rice.
Rasanye? Tatau lah sedap ke tak u ols. I will provide feedback on my next post. Recipe is from noreenhomecooking :)

When Buying Baking Powder

I plan to bake rainbow cake on Saturday and frustratedly found out that my baking powder is already expired. Sigh.  The baking powder is still halfway full so you can already guess the frequency of my baking activity ever since I am mixer-less. So yesterday I went to a baking store to buy a brand new baking powder and found two sizes of baking powder, one is in a huge tin as shown below and the other is repacked in a  medium sized plastic
Just to share, once opened a tin of baking powder will only last three to four months in a cool dry place. If the weather is warm and muggy, its lifespan will be considerably shortened. Unless you are one avid baker, buying a big bulk of baking powder is a bad investment. So don't buy more than you reasonably need in that time ok.
So I just grabbed the medium sized baking powder, the expiry date is July 2011. Great, just one year from now and could it be possible that July next year is already Hari Raya? If not, I have to find way on how to fully utilize my baking powder. How? Just to share few great uses for your old baking powder.
Carpet Freshener
One of my favorite uses, it really does well with odors. Mix in a drop or two of your favorite fragrance, and sprinkle on the carpet. Let sit for 10 minutes before vaccuuming up.
Scrubbing Compound
Sprinkle the baking powder onto your counter, sink or tub. Use a wet sponge to scrub out the stains, and then rinse clean.
Dishwasher / Washing Machine
Sprinkle some baking powder into your washing machine or dishwasher to add an extra boost of cleaning power.
Happy baking people!

Kota Kinabalu, Sabah - Day 1

Kota Kinabalu is my first  visited town in Sabah. Since I have never been to Sabah in moi entire life, I secretly wish for an assignment to look after Sabah field, but, unfortunately it did not materialize. So when I was nominated to attend a conferennce in KK, I straight away say yes.
No worries on travelling alone as my Lonely Planet never fails to keep me occupied. Plus, I love to travel with Malaysia Airlines because I can comfortably do my reading and oh, I love their magazine "Going Places". It was a two and a half hour journey, I had chicken beriyani and god, they are tasteless.
I swear the flight was full of familiar faces and I suppose, we heading to the same place/hotel. It was also my first time checking-in to Magellan Sutera at Sutera Harbour. My first impression on Magellan Sutera - aiyoooo!!  My airport coach was no where to be send I had to wait for half and hour and later made a call to the hotel, asking for where about of my coach. To cut the story short, I find my own coach and headed to the hotel. Such a turn off, I have not step foot in the hotel, yet my good impression on the hotel was half way gone.
Photobucket
Benda yang paling memboringkan dalam dunia ialah staying alone in a luxury hotel like Magellan Sutera. So to kill my time, I went for an evening walk at around the Sutera Harbour Marina and was so in the mood to snap photos using my new and pink waterproof camera. Snap snap snap.
Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
Sutera Harbour Resort is just 10 minutes from the airport, where resides the business-styled Pacific Sutera and the resort-styled Magellan Sutera. From the evening walk alone, I came across two swimming pools, one is olympic size pool at the Marina Clubhouse and the other one is at the center stage of the resort with water depth around 1.4m. The azure water was very inviting, I could not resist the temptation, straight away changed to my swimming suit and took an hour of evening dip before it gets dark. Need to work on the flabby triceps even on holiday people.
Photobucket
My room was superb, king size bed, bath tub and a private balcony to enjoy breathtaking view of the swimming pool and the sea. After swimming, I had to rush for  our  welcoming dinner at Ballroom 2. The theme was "Colours of the World". The food was not that great but it was ok. We were entertained by art and cultural performances by the locals. I left the hall at 11PM while there were still performances going on. The organizer was behind schedule, but I could not wait as  I need to go and rest. Rise and shine early in KK as it is already clear at 6AM.

6 Steps to Organizing Your Digital Photos

Hi! I would like to share 6 useful tips on how to organize your collection of digital photos. Article are copied and pasted from The Nest (love em'!)
1. Don’t save everything
Resist the urge to hold onto bad pics or duplicates (how many do you really need of you giving the dog a bath?). Filter first by deleting the ill-framed shots before you download them onto your computer. That way, you’ll keep your hard drive free of oddball shots and reserved for only the best pics. In your zeal to save space, however, don’t skimp on picture size. If you want to enlarge an image later, and don’t have a decent file size, you won’t get a good printout. Your safest bet is to use the highest or next-highest file size (usually 2 to 4MB) when saving images. That said, if you have lower priority pics that you’re just going to be emailing to relatives, a lower resolution is fine.
2. Name wisely
Don’t rely on the gobbledygook that the computer automatically gives a photo (who can remember whether “10YUTJ24” shows your dog Buster licking his bowl or your MIL sneering at you from the corner?). Make sure the names you use indicate what they are. You may find that numbering your photos is useful when trying to remember what sequence the pictures were taken. But for a quick-to-find, organized system, it’s best to be as descriptive as possible -- with the subjects, location, and dates.
3. Transfer to a disk
Save your digital pics onto a high-quality DVD or CD. And, to ensure that picture data is read successfully, use the “verify data” option on your CD/DVD writing software when making a copy. To be completely anal, uh, safe, make two copies of each CD or DVD. Keep one with you and the other in a safe place, such as a safety deposit box. Proper labeling applies here as well. So that you won’t forget what’s on each disk, use a similar labeling process you used when storing the images on your computer. Back up pictures on CDs every six months and label according to the time period. Use a permanent marker on the inner round of the disk so that over time, the ink won’t get on the data.

4. Utilize photo websites
But don’t trust just any old site. Before you upload, make sure you know the terms -- will they delete the pictures if you don’t buy within a certain period of time? And be sure to use a reputable site like Shutterfly.com or Apple.com/MobileMe since you never know when the smaller ones might go under. Flickr.com is a simple way to share and organize your photos via the web. Create online albums, then add notes and tags (and even let your friends add tags) to label each photo. The tags are all searchable, making your photos easy to find. No matter what you choose, though, know that you need more than just a website as your backup.
5. Get yourself some hardware
An external hard drive is great for extra storage and will allow you to have those images for years to come. Many available hard drive models have “push button” backup and can hold 100 to 500GB of photos, video, data, and music. That’s a lot of data. It sort of makes spending a couple hundred dollars to protect those pictures you call priceless more than a fair trade. For a Mac or PC, an iPod can be used as a hard drive, holding as many as 25,000 for an 80GB iPod -- keep in mind though that the number of photos depends on the size of the photo file. Plus, you can view slideshows -- perfect for showing off pics to visiting relatives. We also like the travel-friendly 640GB Western Digital Passport Portable Drive ($130, WesternDigital.com) -- that’s enough memory for 128,000 photos! Or go to CNet.com, one of our favorite tech sites, for a more educated choice.
6. Make hard copies
Of course the beauty of digital cameras is that you don’t have to waste the time or money printing an entire roll of film. But if you want to have print photos as part of your backup plan, or for long-term storage, make sure the inks and paper are archival quality. To do this, take your camera’s memory card, or a CD or DVD, with all your images into a drugstore or camera shop to have them printed. Or upload them onto an online service. Home photo printers have come a long way, but when it comes to pictures that you want to last, your best bet will be to let a professional handle the print job.

Tie Rack on Sale at KLIA

I love their scarves and seems like they have it in fuschia now. So tempted to buy.
Hmm it is just so sad that Tie Rack can only be found at KLIA airport and Kuching airport. I secretly hope they would one day open a shop near to my reach.
